Carlie Tufnell Spark Fund

Invitation to submit bids

In memory of Carlie Tufnell

In memory of Carlie Tufnell, a former student of Central Film School, the charitable trust set up in his name has created a developmental fund for new graduates of CFS to support bringing their short-film projects to fruition.

The awarded amount, of up to £10,000, will be allocated through the submission of written bids followed by a presentation, with a shortlist of applicants pitching to a panel made up of CFS staff and trustees of the Carlie Tufnell Charitable Trust.

Eligibility and other conditions are outlined below:

  • The primary bidder must have graduated from a CFS academic programme with either the 2022 or 2023 cohorts.
  • The project should have a proportion of CFS students/alumni as crew and/or part of the creative team.
  • The production shoot must primarily take place in the UK.
  • The project must be ‘realisable’. The written submission must include a script/treatment and proposed budget. If the total budget is more than the maximum award, additional funding must be identified in the written submission. We expect projects to be short films no more than 30 minutes in length.
  • The applicant must be new to the screen industries – those with extensive previous professional experience are not eligible.
  • Where the panel feels there is more than one excellent bid it may divide the total fund between multiple bids.
  • The final decision of the award will be the panel’s alone, with no right to appeal for bidders.

We are honoured to be able to offer our new graduates this opportunity and look forward to receiving your submissions. If you have any questions regarding the fund or process, please contact rory@centralfilmschool.com.
