Central leads the way in training its students on established and emerging professional formats. Whilst we are the only film school in the world in which students get to shoot on 35mm film on One Year course, we are also at the forefront of experimenting with new and emerging formats.
In addition to shooting on 35mm film and Super 16mm film, students also shoot on PRO HD solid state cameras. Our HD training includes the industry standard Sony EX-3 with Pro 35 adapter and 35mm prime lenses, the groundbreaking Canon 5D MkII with full Moviecam rig and full 35mm lens and soon the latest offering from RED. Whatever the format, students are trained on the same level of equipment as that used by professional film crews.
The same principle applies with all the other equipment at the school, where students train on the same kit as they will use when they move on to work in the industry.
However, where the industry is fully digital, such as in all aspects of post-production, so are we, training our filmmakers to cut on the industry standard FINAL CUT PRO.
