Central Student Lands First Feature Job before Graduating!
Congratulations to Amy Wilson who recently landed a prime job as camera operator on a British independent feature film!
Amy explains:
"The film school were contacted by the production company who were looking to take on runners and camera assistants and I was fortunate enough for the School Director, Ashley Musgrave, to put me forward for the job.
When I went along for the interview it seemed to go well, but I was then amazed to be offered the job of main camera operator, and to be paid for the three week shoot!
At the time I was coming towards the end of the Industry Filmmaking Diploma course where I had learned to shoot on so many formats during the year, both on the course and by working on the many extra-curricular shoots that the film school supports. At the interview they said they were planning to shoot on the 35mm HD Sensor Sony F3 camera, which I had just been using at the film school through the summer, so I think that really helped me get the job.
The shoot itself was brilliant and I learned so much from working with a great crew of professionals throughout the shoot.
I know that other graduates at the film school are now working on great projects but I didn't expect to get this type of break in the industry so quickly.
I have now also spent on a week on the set of the upcoming Winona Ryder film which was also a great experience.
During my time at Central Film School I worked on over 30 films in the One Year Industry Filmmaking course and this gave me the experience and the confidence to take my first steps into the industry I have always dreamed of working in.
Thank you Central Film School London!!
