Introduction

 

The One-Year Industry Filmmaking Diploma Course is an intensive programme that covers the major areas of professional filmmaking through a hands-on, practical approach, structured around you making your own films to professional standards.

 

Tuition is delivered by working industry professionals through a combination of dynamic practical workshops, masterclasses and on-set support as you shoot your films.

 

The course provides training for major motion picture production from breaking down scripts for production to working with composers in the edit suite.

During the course you will gain working experience in the following production roles:
 
Directing:

Director, 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Director, 3rd Assistant Director, Floor Runner

 

Cinematography:

Director of Photography, Camera Operator, Focus Puller, Clapper/Loader, Gaffer, Spark, Camera Assistant

 

Production Sound:

Sound Mixer, Boom Operator

 

Script Supervisor

 

Producing:

Producer, Production Manager, Production Assistant

 

Editing:

Editor, 1st Assistant Editor, Sound Designer

 

Screenwriting:

Screenwriter, Script Editor

 

 

By the end of the course you will:

 

Have a working understanding of everything from how to assess the dramatic and filmic merits of a script to adjusting the sound design of the final version of your film before it goes in front of industry audiences.

 

Be able to produce a showreel of short films that showcase your talents in a number of areas. Please note that students have the opportunity to specialize in areas of their choice in the latter stages of the course. 

 

All students who complete the course successfully gain Central Film School London’s Industry Diploma in Filmmaking, presented at the Graduation Screening and Awards Ceremony at BAFTA in London.

 

Graduating students are eligible to compete for the following awards: 

 

- Filmmaker of the Year

- Producer of the Year
- Editor of the Year
- Cinematographer of the Year
- Film of the Year 

 

 

WHEN TO APPLY

 

Apply now because at Central Film School we operate on a rolling application process, which means that once a course is full it is then closed for that year - there is no set deadline for applications. This means that students who are organized and apply early are more likely to receive a place at the school. 

 

As with all full-time courses at Central Film School London, places on the Industry Filmmaking Diploma are strictly limited to ensure students are taught in small groups and receive a higher level of individual support.

 

We are essentially looking for raw talent and new voices with something to say and the potential to gain employment in the film industry. Applicants are advised to submit any samples of work that they feel may support their application.

 

Practical workshop tuition normally take place in groups of 6-9 students

 

12- 18 students per year, split into two groups.
