This course is designed for those with little or no experience of professional filmmaking. The course is designed to provide training in professional practice at an introductory level. Students who have completed this course have gone on to make their own independent short films using the training and guidance they have received or gone on to apply for one of our full-time One Year training programmes. The age of students who have taken the course ranges from 18-55, with students travelling from all over the world. Students on the One Month course are actively invited to attend social networking events during their time on the course to help build up a list of contacts for future projects.
Monday – Friday 10am-5pm
“The course was worth its weight in gold. Thank you so much!” James Boucher “I learned more about professional filmmaking on the course in one month than I did at university in three years.” Nicholas Lee “The momentum from the course took me straight into the industry and I am now employed as a Locations Manager for a production company (just finished the third film) and have started making and editing music videos in what spare time i have now. I just wanted to thank the school for everything – it was truly worthwhile and I certainly wouldn’t be in this position if I hadn’t of taken the course!” Nick Strachan
During this one-month intensive filmmaking course, you will get hands-on training in professional filmmaking working under the guidance of internationally respected filmmakers and tutors, often including directing Master Tutor, Patrick Tucker. From the first day you arrive at the school in the heart of central London there are practical workshops and training exercises that provide a well-balanced introduction to the technical craft of filmmaking and the art of visual storytelling. The quality of the final work speaks for itself and we always encourage prospective students to go online and compare the quality of this work with that of other short courses anywhere in the world. Unlike some other short courses, the Certificate course at Central introduces students to ALL of the main aspects of contemporary filmmaking, including professional sound recording, casting and producing. On the course you will have the opportunity to write, direct or crew on a high quality short film with professional actors and receive one-to-one support from working film industry experts. The certificate filmmaking course provides practical and relevant foundation level training in the following key areas:
As with all courses at Central, the emphasis is on clear, straight-talking tuition, working with industry standard equipment and professional post-production facilities. All tuition leads towards the production of quality short films made in small production teams, which are premiered at the end of the course Champagne Screening. To see some examples of the films produced on this course visit the screening room where films are regularly uploaded.
This course is designed, delivered and assessed by Central Film School London. On successful completion of the course students receive Central Film School London’s Certificate, accredited by City and Guilds.
